Desert Talks is a video essay developed from the ongoing conversation series of the same name (since 2012). For each edition, Aurèle Ferrier and a guest choose a place or a route to examine the open-ended notions of emptiness and desert. The guests’ thoughts are heard in voice-over as landscapes they connect to these terms come into view: a Chinese megacity, a patch of forest, a steppe. Voices, paths, and terrain interlock into a cartographic reflection on emptiness.
