BIOGRAPHY
Aurèle Ferrier is a visual artist working with film. His moving-image works operate at the intersection of artists’ film, exhibition contexts, and cinema, examining how human-made environments—urban peripheries, infrastructures, and zones of densification—shape perception, orientation, and the experience of time. Ferrier develops his images through duration: sustained, precisely guided camera movements and an acute attention to scale, surfaces, materialities, and sound. Built environments do not function as backdrops; they emerge as active, formative forces—tectonic orders that reconfigure landscapes and shift modes of inhabitation. Urbanization appears as a process of inscription: an accumulation of geometries, transitions, and traces inscribed into the land across space and time.
Selected presentations include IDFA (Amsterdam), Rencontres Internationales (Paris/Berlin), MACRO (Rome), Image Forum (Tokyo), Jameel Arts Centre (Dubai), Anthology Film Archives (New York), Open City Documentary Festival (London), and the City Museum of Contemporary Art (Hiroshima).
